Welcome to the new Carnforth Chiropodist blog!
How are your New Year Feet?
Addressing the Ouch
Freezing, wet winter conditions bring many challenges for our feet, going from soggy blocks of ice outside, to too hot in thick socks leaned against a scorching radiator. Festive partying in high heels, dehydration, New Year’s resolutions to walk and exercise more; it’s no wonder that unwelcome seasonal foot problems include calluses, blisters, corns, painful toenails, and dry, hot, throbbing feet. If your feet hurt: you hurt, which no one needs- but how many of us put up and struggle on? The good news is, many footfall-pitfalls are easy to treat or prevent. So make a resolution to be kind to your feet in 2024: you’ll find the benefits will last long after you’ve scuffed up those lovely new shoes.
Best Feet Forward
My New Year’s resolutions include starting this blog, to share with you the benefits of a decade of treating clients with every foot condition you could think of (and several surprises you probably couldn’t!). Each month I’ll take a look at a seasonal foot topic, sharing chiropodist’s tips to make your path through 2024 and beyond that bit smoother.
So, let’s start with something winter feet will thank you for: a good foot cream. In my direct experience treating patients, I’ve been most impressed with the Flexitol range (which no-one’s paying me to say!) With clinically-developed creams for specific conditions including hard skin, cracked heels, calluses, nails, and overnight treatments, you can use their balms on legs and ankles too. Moisturizing and the massaging effects of application can help that all-important circulation as well as skin condition.
Walk This Way
So as we stride into 2024, spare your feet a second thought. If you’re suffering painful symptoms, take a stroll to your local, friendly chiropodist; we can help take the sting out of daily life. And keep an eye on this blog and Carnforth Chiropodist Facebook page, [link] for tips to keep you skipping through the year!
