What qualifications should I check for in my chiropodist?

The titles chiropodist/podiatrist are protected by law and may only be used by those who have completed a BSc degree in Podiatry approved by the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC: https://www.hcpc-uk.org, the governing body for healthcare professionals. All chiropodists will display their HCPC registration number which begins with CH, mine is CH33215.

Chiropodists should also be fully insured and many will be members of a relevant professional body, which regularly monitors practice and care standards. I am a member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, part of the Royal College of Podiatry. I am fully qualified to administer local anaesthetic and to recommend prescription medication.
