Qualified Chiropodist

Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration number: CH33215

A warm welcome to Carnforth Chiropodist!

My Home and Chiropody pages will give you an overview of the comprehensive, make-a-difference chiropody services I provide across a wide range of conditions, but what you can expect with Carnforth Chiropodist goes far beyond that.

I came to chiropody as a career change, after a BA (Hons) degree in Law and Human Resources and a job working for an international charity revealed a love in me for helping people and relieving suffering. Proactively committing to a new career path in health and care cemented that vocation, enabling me to bring life experience, understanding and compassion to my practice.

I studied for my degree at Salford University, internationally renowned for clinical expertise, research profile, and rigorous training. As a mature student, I was proud to be awarded a first classBSc (Hons) Podiatry degree in 2013, being placed first in my graduating year (the terms chiropody and podiatry are completely interchangeable).

Practical placements included community and hospital clinics in the North West of England, plus clinical specialization in diabetes, vascular, rheumatoid arthritis and nail surgery. I am also qualified to administer local anaesthetic and to recommend prescription medication. I am registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC: https://www.hcpc-uk.org, the governing body for healthcare professionals, my HCPC registration number is CH33215. I am also a member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, part of the Royal College of Podiatry which regularly monitors practice and care standards.

It’s about the person, not just their feet!

Just before beginning to work as a registered chiropodist, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid disease and, later, lupus. This personal experience of chronic conditions has made me more empathetic, understanding, interested in the interconnection and treatment of conditions throughout the body, and keen to keep up with latest medical research. I know that my conditions make me a better chiropodist.

I understand that visiting any health professional for the first time can be daunting, which is why everything at Carnforth Chiropodist is designed to put you at your ease, as well as back on your feet. I run my practice from a purpose-designed, light-filled clinic in my Langdale Road home, with separate entrance, including accessible ramp. This enables me to provide a professional and caring service to all my clients in relaxed comfort. Just off Windermere Road, there’s no pressure of traffic, with unrestricted on-street parking. It’s close to town, and just two minutes’ drive from junction 35 of the M6.

Everyone who comes through the door is treated as a person, not a pair of problem feet! You can expect the technical expertise of a health professional combined with empathy and understanding. Listening to you, rather than just focussing on your symptoms, frequently reveals linked issues, enabling us to reach greater, long-term relief from foot, leg and back pain problems. And if you just need a toenail trim- that’s all good, too!
